Mission

  • Support primary school English education in rural areas
  • Foster cross-cultural exchange and understanding

About TaLK

  • Created in 2008 upon the ideals of service, compassion and creativity, TaLK is a unique Korean government scholarship
    program and is available to university undergraduates or recent graduates who wish to explore Korean culture while teaching
    English in the Korean countryside.
  • TaLK scholars serve 6-month or 1-year terms and form working partnerships with Korean university students and teachers
    to prepare and lead English classes in the after school English program at the elementary school.
  • Available placements : Chungcheongnam-do, Gangwon-do, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Incheon, Jeju-do and Jeolla-do

Eligibility

  • Citizenship : Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States of America
  • Education : Completed Associate's degree or higher, or, current students who have completed at least their second year
    in an accredited four-year university program.

Application Process

  • Apply online: www.talk.go.kr *create a My Page account
  • Undergo initial and final screening by the local offices and Seoul TaLK Office, respectively
  • Submit additional materials (required documents) *as stated on the Web site

Duties

  • Complete the one-month orientation in Korea *prior to teaching
  • Serve at the designated elementary school
  • Teach for 15 hours per week in the after school English program * Not inclusive of preparation or commute time
  • Fulfill duties/responsibilities in the TaLK Contract

Benefits
